Philadelphia, PA–December 2005. Fralinger's Peanut Butter Chews and Creamy Mint Sticks have been family favorites for more than a century. And with Paragraph's help, they'll stay a sweet tooth's staple for centuries to come.
Key to the success of Fralinger's Peanut Butter Chews package redesign was unearthing a story about a young girl who loved peanuts and salt water taffy. She had just never put them together until one day when her grandfather took her to the circus and she ran into a hungry elephant. She was Nettie Fralinger. Her grandfather was the famous Joseph Fralinger, owner of Fralinger's Salt Water Taffy in Atlantic City. The rest, of course, is history.
"Everybody loves a good story," said Bob Aretz, Principal and Creative Director at Paragraph. "And the peanut butter chews box design tells one." The same can be said for the work Paragraph did to redesign the box for Fralinger's Creamy Mint Sticks.
"With the creamy mint sticks, we used old advertising art from Fralinger's archives," admitted Aretz. "It worked out really well and ironically made the packaging look fresher than ever."
